Okay, so the other day I found myself diving into one of those New York Times crossword puzzles. You know, the ones that make you feel super smart or just plain confused, no in-between? Well, I was feeling adventurous and picked one up.
I started filling in the squares, feeling pretty good about myself. I mean, I solved a couple of clues right off the bat. I was flying, “This is easy,” I thought, all cocky-like. Then I encountered “Weighing more.” Hmm, I thought, there are many words that could fit. I started thinking of the longer and more complicated ones. Because, of course, it had to be difficult, right?
But then, I hit a wall. And not just any wall, a big, fat, “You’re stuck” kind of wall. This “Weighing more” clue was messing with my flow. I tried to solve other clues around it, hoping to get some hints, you know, like they do in those detective shows. I kept moving around the grid, filling in what I could.
Then I turned to the internet. I found a bunch of websites that help with crossword answers. I typed in the clue and found several that mentioned “HEAVIER” as a possible answer. “Could it really be that simple?” I wondered.
I went back to my puzzle and tried filling it in. And guess what? It fit! I felt like a genius for a moment, only to realize I used the internet to solve it. But hey, a win’s a win, right?
My Little Tricks
Here’s what I’ve learned from this whole crossword adventure:
- Start easy: Get those easy clues out of the way first. It builds your confidence, or something like that.
- Jump around: If you’re stuck on one clue, move on to another. It might just help you crack the tough one later.
- Use the internet: There is no shame to use the internet. I mean, there are tons of sites out there dedicated to helping you solve these things.
So, yeah, that’s my story of how I tackled “Weighing more” in a New York Times crossword puzzle. It was a wild ride of emotions, from feeling like a smart cookie to a confused potato and then a slightly less confused potato. But in the end, I got it done. Or at least, the internet did. Either way, I’m counting it as a win. On to the next puzzle!
