Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea for a while, and I finally decided to take the plunge and make a split jersey. You know, those jerseys that are like half one team, half another? Yeah, those. I always thought they looked pretty cool, and I wanted to see if I could make one myself.
First, I had to pick which teams I wanted to combine. This took some serious thinking because, well, I’m a fan of a lot of teams. In the end, I went with my two absolute favorites. I won’t say which ones because I don’t want any hate mail, haha!
Next, I had to get my hands on two jerseys – one for each team. I found them online. Luckily, they were on sale, so I didn’t have to break the bank.
Once the jerseys arrived, it was time for the scary part: cutting them up. I laid them out on my kitchen table, took a deep breath, and started cutting straight down the middle. It felt kinda wrong to be cutting up perfectly good jerseys, but I kept reminding myself of the awesome split jersey that was to come.
- Cut carefully: I used a really sharp pair of scissors to make sure the cuts were clean and straight.
- Line it up: Before sewing, I made sure the two halves lined up perfectly.
After cutting, I had to sew the two halves together. Now, I’m no expert with a needle and thread, but I do know the basics. I pinned the two halves together and started sewing. It took a while, and my fingers were pretty sore by the end, but I managed to get it done.
The Result
And… it turned out pretty awesome! The two halves came together nicely, and the stitching was pretty solid. I was actually surprised at how good it looked. I wore it out to a game the other day, and I got a ton of compliments. People kept asking me where I got it, and they were shocked when I told them I made it myself!
So yeah, that’s my split jersey adventure. It was a fun little project, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. If you’re thinking about making one yourself, I say go for it! It’s a great way to show off your love for multiple teams, and it’s a pretty unique piece of clothing to have. Plus, it’s a good conversation starter, just don’t get too crazy with the teams you combine. Trust me on that one, haha!
