Okay, let’s talk about my time trying to really figure out Rosa in Brawl Stars. It wasn’t like some grand plan, just sorta happened.

Getting Started with Rosa
So, I pulled Rosa, right? Another brawler to add to the collection. At first, I didn’t think much of her. Just another tanky type, punches stuff, gets a shield. Standard. I played a few rounds, mostly in Gem Grab because, well, she looks like she can hold the center. Punched some folks, grabbed some gems, died a few times. Pretty basic stuff.
Her range is kinda short, that was the first thing I really noticed. You gotta get right up in people’s faces. And her Super, the shield thing, felt super strong, but timing it? That was tricky. I kept popping it too early or way too late, usually after I was already toast.
The Upgrade Grind
Then I decided, okay, let’s actually try to make her decent. This meant grinding for Power Points and Coins. Ugh. You know how it is. Opening boxes, hoping for Rosa points, getting points for brawlers I barely use. It took a while. Played a lot of matches, did my daily quests, all that usual stuff. Slowly, slowly, her level started creeping up. Each level felt like a tiny victory, you know? Like, ‘Okay, she hits a little harder now’.
Gadgets and Star Powers – Making Choices
Finally got her to Level 7, then Level 9. Time for the fun stuff: Gadgets and Star Powers. This is where it got interesting.
- Gadgets: First one I got was the one that makes bushes grow. Seemed kinda neat, especially on maps with less cover. Tried it out. Sometimes it was brilliant, ambushing people. Other times, the enemy just blew up my bushes immediately. Then I got the other one, the slowing one. Honestly, I found myself using the bush one more often, just felt more… Rosa-like? Creating my own little jungle patch.
- Star Powers: The healing-in-a-bush one seemed like a no-brainer at first. More survivability, right? Paired it with the bush gadget. It worked okay, let me hang around longer. But then I tried the other one, extra punch damage during her Super. Oh man. When you pop that shield and just start wailing on someone? That extra damage makes a difference. Suddenly, I wasn’t just surviving with the shield, I was threatening. Switched to that one more often, especially in Brawl Ball where you need to clear the path fast.
Figuring Out How to Play Her
So I had her upgraded, had my preferred gadgets and star power. Now it was about actually playing her well. This took practice. Lots of it.
Positioning is key. Can’t just run straight at people. Gotta use walls, use bushes (real ones or the ones I grew). Sneak up. Surprise punching is the best punching.
Super Timing. This was the big one. Learned to pop it just as the big fight starts, or when I needed to grab gems and run, or make that crucial goal in Brawl Ball. Holding onto it for too long is useless, but wasting it is just as bad. Felt good when I started getting the timing right more consistently.
Game Modes: Found she really shines in Gem Grab (controlling the middle) and Brawl Ball (carrying the ball with her shield or just being a massive obstacle). Also decent in some Hot Zone maps. Less great in Bounty or Knockout where her short range is a bigger problem.

Final Thoughts
Building up Rosa was a grind, yeah, like always in this game. But it was satisfying. Taking a brawler I didn’t care much about and actually learning her quirks, figuring out how to make her work for me. She’s not flashy, not like Mortis dashing around or Spike throwing cacti everywhere. She just gets in there and punches. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. It was a good little project, made me appreciate the tank role a bit more. Now, who to work on next…
