Okay, so I was looking up some info on Kauffman Stadium today, and I figured I’d share what I found. It all started because I was thinking about catching a Royals game soon, and I realized I didn’t even know how many people that stadium could hold.
So, first I hit up the usual spots online to get the basic facts. Turns out, Kauffman Stadium can hold almost 38,000 fans for baseball games. That’s a pretty good size, but not massive like some other stadiums I’ve been to. They say they’re aiming for around 34,000 seats in the new stadium, which is a bit smaller.
- I also found out that it’s part of the Truman Sports Complex, which also includes Arrowhead Stadium where the Chiefs play. I’ve driven past it a bunch of times, but never actually been inside.
- Then, I started digging into the history of the stadium. Apparently, it was built in the late ’60s, which makes sense given its kind of old-school feel. Ewing Kauffman was the guy who started the Royals franchise, and the stadium is named after him. Now, it’s owned by some big-shot investor named John Sherman and a group of other rich folks.
While I was at it, I checked out some of the unique features of the stadium. The coolest thing is probably that giant water fountain thing behind the outfield – it’s 322 feet wide! They call it a “water spectacular,” which is kind of a fancy name, but it’s definitely eye-catching. When it first opened, it was the biggest privately funded fountain in the whole world. That’s some serious bragging rights.
Oh, and for anyone wondering, they do take all the major credit cards like Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express when you buy tickets. I usually just use my credit card for stuff like that, so it’s good to know.
So yeah, that’s what I learned about Kauffman Stadium today.
Just some random facts, but it’s always fun to learn a little something new, right?
