Getting Settled In
Alright, so that week back in August 2020, I remember deciding to tune into the golf. The Wyndham Championship was on, always kinda marks the end of the regular season push, which gets interesting.

Fired up the TV, got comfortable. It’s always played at Sedgefield, right? That course has a classic feel. Caught some of the early rounds, Thursday and Friday. Lots of guys trying to make that final push for the playoffs.
Watching the Field Thin Out
You know how it is, the leaderboard shuffles like crazy early on. Saw some familiar names up there, some guys struggling near the cut line. I wasn’t following anyone super specific, just kinda taking it all in, seeing who was playing well.
Si Woo Kim, he seemed to be hanging around the top. Billy Horschel too. It’s always a bit of a scramble at this event, guys needing points badly. You could feel that pressure even through the screen.
Weekend Action
Come Saturday, things started to get a bit clearer, but still pretty bunched up. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon watching the coverage. The course looked like it was playing pretty fair, lots of birdies being made.
I remember thinking it was wide open. No single guy was running away with it, which usually makes for a good Sunday.
The Final Round Story
Sunday rolled around. I made sure I was free to watch the final round properly. It was tight, really tight. A bunch of players had a shot heading into the back nine.
Saw Webb Simpson make a charge, being a local favorite and all. Horschel was right there. But then, Jim Herman just put together a seriously solid round. Didn’t really expect him to come out on top at the start of the day, honestly.
He shot a fantastic 63 on Saturday, then followed it up with another great round on Sunday. Just played steady golf when everyone else was sort of jockeying around. Didn’t flinch much down the stretch.

Wrapping Up
Watched him finish up on 18. It was a solid win, especially seeing how much it meant for his playoff chances and tour status. Good for him. You gotta appreciate when someone puts it all together like that over a weekend.
Turned off the TV after the trophy stuff. Another tournament in the books. Always enjoy watching how these things unfold, especially the drama at the end of the season.
