Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole LIV viewership thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. I wanted to see what the deal was with how many people were tuning into these LIV Golf events. I dove in, started poking around to gather some info and see what I could learn.
First off, I noticed that these LIV events, they’re getting pretty popular, especially that one in Adelaide which seemed like a big hit. People from 37 countries attended the event, about 77,000 fans, it’s a huge success. And it wasn’t just there, places like Singapore, London, and Spain, they all saw a good turnout too. So, I thought, “Alright, there’s something here.”
Then, I tried to get into the actual numbers. I saw that the Sunday telecasts were averaging around 2.2 million viewers in 2024, a bit down from 2.7 million in 2023, almost a 19% drop. Not a huge drop, but still something to note, right?
I also found out that LIV, if you break it down in Roman numerals, it’s like 54. L is 50, V is 5, and I is 1, so 50 + 5 – 1 equals 54. Kind of a fun fact, I guess.
Now, “The View” is another thing I looked at. Their total viewers are up by 9% this season compared to last year, hitting a 4-year high. They’re pulling in about 2.616 million viewers now, up from 2.411 million. That’s pretty good, huh?
Here’s where it gets interesting. I came across this thing about the final round of one event getting 432,000 viewers on The CW. That’s their highest ever, and it was way more than what they got the day before, which was like 168,000. Big jump!
- Compared: But then, when you look at the other big golf tours, they’re pulling in way more, like over 2 million viewers on average. There’s one with 2.295 million on CBS and another with 2.3 million on NBC. So, LIV’s still got some catching up to do.
- Data: And there was this one event in Chicago, the viewership was super low, only 89,000. I mean, that’s almost nothing compared to the others.
- Attempt: I think a big part of all this is that they just got a new deal with The CW, like back in January 19th. That might be shaking things up a bit.
So, after all this digging around, I’m still not totally sure what to make of it. LIV’s got some good stuff going on, but they’re definitely not at the top yet. It’s kind of a mixed bag, and I’m curious to see where it goes from here. I will continue to pay attention to the changes in the numbers.
