Okay, so I was super hyped for The Finals, right? I mean, who wasn’t? But before I downloaded it, I was like, “Hold on, how much space does this thing actually need?” I’ve been burned before by games that sneakily require way more than advertised.

First thing I did was hit up the Steam page. I figured that’d be the most reliable source, right? The page said something like “at least 15GB available space.” Okay, cool, I thought. That seemed manageable. But I’ve learned not to trust that completely.
So, next, I jumped over to a couple of those gaming forums and Reddit. You know, get the real scoop from people who’d already downloaded it. I saw a bunch of different numbers floating around. Some people were saying the initial download was around 12GB, but after installation, it ballooned up to 20GB or even more.
That got me a little worried. I only had like, 30GB free on my SSD, and I didn’t want to clog it up completely. So, I decided to do a little disk cleanup before anything else. I deleted some old game demos I hadn’t touched in ages and cleared out my downloads folder.
Finally, I bit the bullet and started the download. It was indeed around 12GB, like some of the forum guys said. The download itself was pretty quick, thankfully. But then came the installation… that took a little longer.
After the installation was all done, I went straight to my Steam library and checked the actual size on my hard drive. And guess what? It was just a hair over 17GB. Not bad, honestly. Definitely more than the initial download, but still within a reasonable range of what I’d seen online.
So, to recap: The Steam page said 15GB, the download was around 12GB, and the final installed size for me was around 17GB. Your mileage may vary a bit, depending on updates and whatnot, but that’s what I experienced.
I’d recommend having at least 20GB free just to be safe. That way, you won’t run into any annoying “not enough space” errors during the installation or future updates. And hey, while you’re at it, do a little disk cleanup – it never hurts!
